Fit the belt in the correct direction
Belt sanders use belts with an overlapping joint, so it’s important to fit the belt in the correct direction to prevent breakage during use.
Step 1: Check directional arrows
On the inside of every belt, you’ll see directional arrows.
Fit the belt so the arrows match the direction indicated on the tool. The position of the arrows may vary between models.
Step 2: Disconnect power
Unplug the power cord for AC models or remove the battery for cordless models.
Step 3: Release tension
Pull back the tensioning lever and slide the old belt out.
Step 4: Position the new belt
Place the belt roughly in the centre of the metal back plate and push the tensioning lever back in.
Step 5: Ensure firm fit
The belt should fit firmly on the rollers.
Step 6: Align the belt
Once fitted, adjust the tracking so the belt stays centred and does not come off during use.
