How to adjust a RYOBI Belt Sander's belt for tracking

How to align the sanding belt 

Step 1: Reconnect power 

Reconnect the power source or reinsert the battery. 

Step 2: Hold securely 

Firmly hold the sander away from your body and turn the tool on. 

Step 3: Check belt position 

If the belt runs in the centre of the backing plate, no adjustment is needed. 
If the belt tracks to the left or right, adjust its alignment using the tracking knob. 

Step 4: Make small adjustments 

Turn the tracking knob slowly, making small adjustments at a time. 
Wait until the belt stops moving off-centre before making another adjustment. 

Step 5: Stabilise the belt 

Continue making small adjustments until the belt remains centred on the back plate.
