Why does my RYOBI 18V/36V Chainsaw leak oil when not in use?

Oil leaking from a chainsaw is quite common and normal. The air inside the oil tank can expand and contract with temperature changes. During the warmth of the day the air expands, and at night it contracts with lower temperatures. This process acts like a pump and slowly bar oil will flow through the system.

In addition, overfilling or storing on uneven surfaces can increase leaks. To prevent leaks, empty the oil reservoir before storage and clean the chainsaw after each use.
