What's the burning smell coming from my electric Ryobi Belt Sander?

- From new, electric motors will often have this smell which is normal and will go away after several uses of the tool.
- It can also occur with excessive use of the tool from extended use.
- All sanders are typically used for long periods and need a rest every now and again to allow the motor to cool. Otherwise over time, it could eventually burn out. As an example, if you used the sander for 30min, give it say a 5-10min rest.
