- To get a starting height for the cutting drum, wind the handle up and slide the timber in.
- Next wind the handle back until the cutter just rests on the timber.
- Noting the position of the handle, wind it back up two-turns and slide the timber out.
- To set your first planning depth, wind the handle exactly 3 turns, 2 turns to get you back to the top of the timber, and one to get the cutters at the first planning depth of around 1mm
