How deep should I set my Planer?

How deep should I set my Planer? 

It's usually best to set the planer to a lighter setting (0-1mm) at the start. 
The lighter setting allows for easier control and allows you to increase the depth of cut slowly should you need to remove more material. 

Remember to always start the tool with the blade off the material, allow the planer to reach fully speed before engaging in the cut.
