How to clear a jammed RYOBI battery-powered Nailer or Stapler

03/02/2026, 13:34

If your RYOBI Nailer or Stapler has a jammed nail or staple, follow these steps to clear it safely:

  1. Disconnect the battery from the tool to prevent accidental firing.
  2. Unload the magazine by removing any nails or staples that aren’t jammed. This relieves pressure on the jammed fastener.
  3. Open the jam release by pulling up the latch located at the nose of the tool.
  4. Free the firing pin by inserting a flat-blade screwdriver into the driving mechanism and gently pushing the firing pin back. This should expose the jammed nail or staple.
  5. Remove the jammed fastener using a pair of pointed nose pliers if needed.
  6. Close the jam release and latch securely.
  7. Reload the magazine with nails or staples and reconnect the battery.
